There were a few with posters 'Safety On Uxbridge Road'

'In Memory of Claudia'

'One Death Too Many'

Ealing Council leader Julian Bell

A woman holds a poster with a long message saying despite asking nothing
has been done for 30 years

'Enough is Enough'

The organisers of the protest give directions

and the march starts going along the Uxbridge Rd

The marchers occupied the junction where cyclist Claudia Manera was
hit by a lorry, closing it to traffic

When all had arrived they held a short silence in the middle of the
junction

Before moving a few yards into a local park for a rally

A cyclist talks to Rupa Huq MP

A message from Claudia's father was read out, first in English and
then in Italian

Rupa Huq MP

and everyone listened in silence

but when Ealing Council leader Julian Bell started to speak

there were a number of hecklers who accused him of not taking the
safety of cyclists and pedestrians seriously

Bell said that Labour had not been in power long and were now trying hard
to improve the area for cyclists, but
the critics say they have been dragging their feet . Perhaps this tragic
death and the protest will spur them into action.
A couple of weeks later another cyclist was killed in the borough, in Southall,
and there was another protest
